2. role Purpose:

Ensure that all financial transactions are executed in compliance with the company policies and procedures and with the International Accounting Standards, local legal framework and submitted to management on a timely basis. Responsible for monitoring, analysing and reporting financial information to support monthly, quarterly and yearly closing including the preparation or review of journal entries and account reconciliations. Responsible for review and maintenance of the general ledger to ensure data integrity of both Oman LNG and OLNG Development Foundation.

3. ROLEs, Responsibilities and challenges:

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Establish appropriate procedures and controls within the section, to ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded in the books on a timely basis.
  2. Ensure presence of adequate internal control procedures for financial accounting and compliance with the established policies and procedures.
  3. Ensure that financial statements are prepared in accordance with the OLNG accounting policies and procedures, International Accounting Standards and IFRS, local legal framework and submitted to management on a timely basis.
  4. Review, oversee and approve financial data compiled by team and check for accuracy and comprehensiveness (including journal entries and account reconciliations).
  5. Assist in the development of accurate accounting records through development and preparation of various journal entries, postings and reconciliation for both OLNG and Oman LNG Development Fund.
  6. Participates as a member of the corporate budgeting team, which provides guidance to corporate department managers during budgeting process.
  7. Research accounting issues that directly impact financial statements and document findings in accounting memos.
  8. Assume overall responsibility for ensuring that the financial statements of the company are audited smoothly.
  9. Ensures that all module interfaces from other system are done accurately and in a timely manner.
  10. Review monthly MIR & external financial reports like Shell, Ministries, CBO etc.
  11. Furnish details and answer all audit queries from State Audit Institution/Company Auditors/Shareholder Auditors & Internal Auditors. Ensure timely closure of audit findings.
  12. Review different types of Reconciliation statements of accounts on monthly basis
  13. Ensure that the fixed asset register of the company is maintained up to date; take periodic measures to ensure that the information contained in the fixed assets register is validated against physical presence of assets also monthly review fixed asset register reconciliation with GL.
  14. Provide the financial services support to the ODF as per the agreed SLA and help the ODF to meet the financial reporting requirements.
  15. Implement LEAN on the finance processes to achieve optimum output.
  16. Coach and develop the staff to ensure the minimum competency levels are met or exceeded by a yearly review of their training needs, on the job exposure, cross postings, preparation of a personal development plan and regular feedback sessions including mid-year and final year appraisal.

CHALLENGES:

  1. Preparing timely and accurate different types of reports
  2. Keeping abreast with IFRS local legal framework and synchronizing with company policy and procedures
  3. Delaying in closing sub ledger modules such as AP, AR, CM, etc.
  4. Delay receiving accrual information from Budget holders
  5. Soliciting continuous support from various stakeholders for monthly closing of GL on time.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, and working conditions

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • - Minimum 8 years of experience preferably in the oil and gas sector.
  • - Strong preference for ACCA/CIMA, or CPA professional qualification.

Working Conditions:

  • - Office based role with base location as Muscat (with occasional travel to the plant).
  • - 5/2 work pattern.
